As the largest city in the state and the state capital, Des Moines is the place to go for the travel nurse looking to take in some urban excitement. Explore the area on foot or bike on over 300 miles of trails throughout the city. You can get in touch with your inner child at Adventureland Amusement Park or check out the exhibits at Des Moines art center. 

When it's time to get out of the hospital and unwind, head to Lazy River Beer and Wine Fest to sample the beverage of your choice and listen to live music along the bank of the Mississippi River. Many are surprised to learn that Iowa has a growing wine industry and there are vineyards all over the state open for touring and tasting.

During a travel nursing assignment, it's always a good idea to acclimate to your location. Head to the Iowa State Fair to get to know more about local food and people and hear some live music. If you want to know what Iowa pride is all about, grab your nurse friends and go to an Iowa State sporting event of your choice. 

Whether you spend it cheering at a football game, screaming on a rollercoaster, or taking in some live music and fair food, a travel contract should be suited to you.
