Whether you prefer the desert climate or the cooler temperatures of the forest, you can have it all when you take a travel nursing contract in the "Grand Canyon" state. While Arizona's deserts are dry and have little rainfall, half the state is made up of mountains and plateaus, where camping among pine trees can make for the perfect weekend getaway for any nurse. Visit the Phoenix Art Museum or the Phoenix Zoo, take a trip to a day spa, or golf on one of Phoenix's many courses. Home to the Arizona Cardinals, check out an NFL game, or see the Diamondbacks play at Chase Field, the first stadium built with a retractable roof.

Phoenix and Scottsdale are both well known for their luxury shopping malls, as well as unique fashion boutiques. Enjoy a day of shopping in the beautiful atmosphere of the outdoor spaces and courtyards found in many of the area's shopping centers. As a travel nurse in Scottsdale, you'll be in the city where Stephen Spielberg, David Spade and Lynda Carter all grew up!

A nursing assignment in Arizona wouldn't be complete without a trip to Lake Havasu on the Colorado River, to see the famous London Bridge. In 1968, American entrepreneur Robert P. McCulloch won a bid for the old bridge when the London Bridge was replaced. He brought it back piece by piece to Lake Havasu City, Arizona. So, grab some nursing friends, rent a boat, and try your skills at water skiing. But don't forget your sunscreen! Lake Havasu's record high temperature was in 1994 at 128 degrees.

Job Description

The Operating Room Registered Nurse is responsible for assisting surgeons in the OR. OR RNs will prepare the operating room and the patient for the procedure and make positive that all equipment is clean and working properly.

Responsibilities

OR Nurse responsibilities include:


  • Analyzing the health of the patient before, during and after the procedure.

  • Anticipate what the surgeons need and give medical instruments and supplies to them during procedures.

  • Collecting and logging all items needed for lab examinations.

Requirements

One year of experience as an OR RN within the past two years.


  • Active Nursing License in good standing.

  • Up to date BLS from American Heart Association.

  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
