Intensive Care Unit Nurses must provide top end care for patients with life-threatening medical conditions. Intensive Care Unit RNs must have the ability to make rapid and accurate decisions while staying composed during unpredictable, traumatic events.

Responsibilities

ICU Registered Nurses responsibilities include:
  • Analyzing the progress of the patient.
  • Taking needed steps if there are any changes in the patient's condition.
  • Helping doctors with procedures.
  • Making sure all medical equipment is functioning correctly while taking care of the patient.
  • Giving necessary medication in a fast moving, highly stressful environment.
  • Providing emotional support while updating family members of current health status of the patient.

Requirements

One year of experience as an Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse within the past two years.
  • Active RN License in good standing.
  • Up to date Basic Life Support from American Heart Association.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
