As the biggest city in the state, the Hawaiian capital is a great place to go to try traditional Polynesian fare at one of many great restaurants or check out a museum. Honolulu is also the surfing capital of the world. Whether you prefer to observe or to get in there and ride some waves of your own, you can partake in the surfing culture that many Hawaiians are passionate about.


There is no shortage of quieter cities and towns throughout the islands if you would rather take on Hawaii at a slower pace. Kauai for instance, contains many natural sights that, while popular destinations, have been left relatively untouched. These include the Waialua River, Waimea Canyon, No Pali Coast, and Mount Waialeale. Hikers can even walk among volcanoes and craters at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.


When in Hawaii, history buffs are always sure to check out World War II Valor in the Pacific, a memorial dedicated to the attack on Pearl Harbor. You can also tour Pearl Harbor itself ore see one of several other military bases scattered throughout Hawaii's islands.
