If you've decided you need a change of pace, perhaps it's time you journeyed to the beautiful city of St. Louis, Missouri. Featuring a myriad of sites for you to visit and explore, St. Louis will eradicate the plague of boredom by giving you something new and exciting to look forward to every day. It's the perfect destination for the most seasoned of travelers as well as those who are just starting out.
Historical attractions are the heart of St. Louis; you'll find more opportunities to explore the past here than most any other city. Make an appointment to tour the General Daniel Bissell House, the work of one of the very first American officers. Kids get in free and adults only have to pay $4, making it a great stop for the whole family. You'll also find the grave of the famous explorer, William Clark, among the burial sites of several other legendary figures at Bellefontaine Cemetery. Of course, if you're up for something a little more on the eerie side, Ghost Ride Tours is your key to investigating the most baffling and goose-bump inducing spots in the city.
Ready to hit the shopping scene? Mid Rivers Mall, Chesterfield Mall, and The Boulevard are just a couple of places you can try on for size. With hundreds of shops and pleasant cafes to rest up, you're in for a treat no matter where you go.
You can always treat yourself to a fantastic show at the theatre - but what sort of entertainment are you after? Grand Center is the concert theater everyone knows about; here, you will be treated to the best music the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra can offer, as well as extraordinary performances from other well-known groups. Or, if you've always wanted to attend an opera without paying the suffocating price, Union Avenue Opera (UAO) offers the opportunity by selling tickets at a low cost without lowering the performance level of its actors. If you're a film fanatic, you'll find your sanctuary just as easily. You can even step back into the past at the beloved Tivoli Theatre, which beautifully demonstrates its original 1924 state. The movies shown here are inspiring classics and independent films - remarkable storylines as well as unforgettable characters are the standard.
When you're feeling a little hungry, be sure to spoil yourself at one of the unique restaurants downtown. The 1860s Saloon & Hard Shell Café offers tender, juicy steak and fresh, delicious seafood. You can also enjoy live jazz music every day of the week, making your dinner anything but typical. Stop in for margaritas and see what the daily special is at Zu Zu Handmade Mexican Food. Or pay a visit to Caleco's Bar & Grill, which boasts the finest Italian cuisine in downtown. Then again, if you're in the mood for Japanese, the Wasabi Sushi Bar is your destination!
For dancing and general relaxation, you can take your pick from a number of nightclubs, each with their own special themes and unique features. Rue 13 is a favorite lounge for city natives - the sushi alone is worth the trip, ranking as the best in all of St. Louis. Challenge your pals to a game of pool at Morgan Street Brewery while glimpsing the action on one of the big screen TVs. Or, if you're interested in classy dancing, spend your weekend at Casa Loma Ballroom for an atmosphere you figured only appeared in the movies.
