Madison, Wisconsin

Madison is a great choice for a travel contract due to its fun-loving culture, eclectic residents and activities, and the way it makes you feel like you're in a homey small town and a viant city at the same time. Being the state capitol of Wisconsin and the home of the large University of Wisconsin makes for a diverse city with no shortage of entertainment, whether you are into the performing arts or exploring the outdoors.

Life in Madison is heavily influenced by the five lakes it's surrounded by, the University, and the state capitol and adjacent neighborhoods. The Memorial Union Terrace and Monona Terrace are popular warm-weather locations overlooking Lake Mendota and Lake Monona. Sit on one of the terraces enjoying a cold ice cream cone or beer while listening to live music and taking in the views. You can also rent a boat from the Memorial Union Terrace.

The State Capitol's home, Capitol Square, is home to many of Madison's events throughout the year. The Dane County Farmers Market, the largest producer-only market in the country, makes its warm-weather home on the square and moves indoor during the winter. Art Fair on the Square and Concerts on the Square are events in the same location worth checking out. Grab your nurse friends on a day off and head toward the Square; you'll most likely find something going on.

Extending from Capitol Square is State Street, the center of shopping, dining, nightlife, entertainment, and even some of Madison's street performers. It's also home to one of the country's largest Halloween celeations. You can go down State Street over and over again and continue to discover new places worth exploring. There are tons of ways to get to know this exciting city on a nursing contract whether you're sampling food, drinks, and live music at Taste of Madison or learning one of the University of Wisconsin cheers at a Badger game.
