Scranton, nicknamed the "Electric City" for developing America's first electric trolley system, is a historically rich city filled with museums, restaurants, and recreation that make it a desirable location for a travel nursing contract. Scranton's interesting architecture combined with Lake Scranton creates a beautiful backdrop for exploring the city.
Montage Mountain is one of Scranton's most popular destinations no matter which of the East Coast's four distinct seasons it is. The mountain becomes a waterpark during the summertime and even has a giant zipline. In the colder months, the mountain is filled with winter sports like skiing, snowboarding, and snowtubing. No matter what time of year you go to Scranton, you'll need to unwind after a busy week. Grab your nursing friends and hit the mountain.
Scranton's history lends itself to many of the city's landmarks like the Lackawanna Coal Mine, a destination for tour groups now that it isn't operational, the Electric City Trolley Museum, the Houdini Museum, and the Everhart Museum. Take a day to museum-hop and get to know your temporary home.
Scranton Lake's trails are a perfect place for walking and biking; if you’re a nurse who prefers to explore a city in a more adventurous fashion, Endless Mountains will take you on a hot air balloon flight that departs from Scranton and rides over views of Northeastern Pennsylvania. No matter how you do it, Scranton is worth exploring. Give Nurses PRN a call to find out what opportunities are available.
