A Maternal and Child Health Nurse serves women, children and their family members related to their public health problems. As a Maternal and Child Health Nurse you will meet with mothers and fathers during planned home visits. Maternal and Child Health Professionals also help with sexual health services.


As a Maternal and Child Health RN your responsibilities consist of:
  • Supplying information on Family planning methods.
  • Promoting preventive prenatal and health practices for mothers. Which includes helping her with prenatal care, have a better diet, and reducing and/or eliminating her use of alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drugs.
  • Supporting the health and well being of pregnant women and their children.
  • Increasing family vaccination rates.
  • Assisting the mother to be get ready emotionally and physically for the arrival of her baby.
  • Provide life coaching for the expecting mother and her family to ensure she can be self-sufficient by encouraging them to develop a vision for their futures.


One year of experience as an Maternal and Child Health Registered Nurse within the past two years.
  • Current RN License in good standing.
  • Up to date BLS from American Heart Association.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
