RNL&D

A Labor and Delivery Nurse provides a balance of the same elements that are found in critical care, OR, ER department and pediatric nursing. A Labor and Delivery RN must have excellent communication skills because they are the link between the patient, family members and the doctor. A Labor and Delivery Nurse must be able to think quickly and come up with solutions quickly. Labor and Delivery RNs work closely with the obstetrician and spend many hours on their feet.

Responsibilities

As a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse some of your responsibilities consist of:
  • Assessing contractions, cervix for dilation, heart rates, etc.
  • Performing follow-up duties which consist of:
    • Checking the newborns general condition.
    • Checking the mothers condition.
    • Watching for signs of trouble.
    • Checking for signs of infections and any other complications.

    Requirements

    • One year of experience as a Labor and Delivery RN within the past two years.
    • Current RN License in good standing.
    • Up to date Basic Life Support from American Heart Association.
    • Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
