If you want to surround yourself with natural beauty on your next travel nursing contract, take Arkansas into consideration. The state is the perfect convergence of the scenery of mountains, plains, and rivers with the excitement of city life coming from places like Little Rock and Fort Smith.

A travel nurse needs to unwind. If you prefer to do so by exploring the outdoors, you'll have plenty of options. The Buffalo National River, for instance, is a great stop for swimming, fishing, or boating. Also in Arkansas is a stretch of the Mississippi River and the Ozark Mountains, which are a paradise to hikers and climbers. It's no mistake that Arkansas is nicknamed "The Natural State."

Where the Ozark Mountains meet the Mississippi Plain is Little Rock. As the biggest city in Arkansas, Little Rock has a rich history as well as a modern flair. Being an important site for the Civil Rights Movement, Little Rock has many memorials and landmarks dedicated to the "Little Rock Nine," such as the Central High Civil Rights Museum. After exploring the city's history, the River Market is a great stop to shop produce, art, and crafts from local vendors.

Arkansas is a proud state, particularly when it comes to music. The home state of Johnny Cash boasts tons of music festivals throughout the year such as Little Rock's own Riverfest, where you can hear live blues, country, or folk music while checking out exhibitions from local artists. That's not all Arkansas celebrates; festivals throughout the year such as Cave City Watermelon Festival will give you a way to get to know your temporary home and find out what makes the state so special.

On a travel contract, you need to be somewhere that gives you the chance to explore, that has a unique identity for you to discover. Arkansas is a great place for the traveling nurse to explore the outdoors at one of many natural wonders such as Hot Springs National Park or to get to know new cities like Little Rock. Give Nurses PRN a call to find out what's available in your specialty!
