RNFirst AssistEast Saint Louis, IL

The First Assistant Nurse is responsible for the care of patients before, during and after their medication procedures. They generally work along side surgeons and physicians to make sure the patient is given the best care possible and all complications are avoided.

Responsibilities

As a RNFA your responsibilities include:
  • Performing various assessments to prepare the patient for their operation.
  • Aiding the surgeons in any way needed ways during the surgery.
  • Providing incision and wound care during the procedure while continually watching the vitals of the patient.
  • Teaching patients and their families on the best follow-up care to ensure a safe recovery is made.

Requirements

One year of experience as a First Assistant Nurse within the past two years.
  • Current RN License in good standing.
  • Up to date Basic Life Support through American Heart Association.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
