Clackamas, OR

Portland is one of the most unique and eclectic cities in the United States; its seemingly endless list of things to see and do makes Portland an ideal destination for a travel nursing contract. Portland's outdoor recreation, huge music scene, funky shopping neighborhoods, galleries, and museums are just the start. With Mount Hood on one side and the Columbia River on the other, along with the Willamette River winding through downtown, Portland is a scenic location from every angle.

If you're a travel RN who gravitates toward the city lights, you'll be very happy in Portland. It's the largest city in Oregon and is rapidly growing; with that comes a long menu of museums, restaurants, and performing arts venues to try. One of the best ways to see the city is from the Portland Aerial Tram, from which you'll take in breathtaking views of Mount Hood along with downtown Portland. You can also take a cruise down the Willamette River, adjacent to downtown.

Nature-loving nurses, Portland has tons to offer you, too. Portland's Forest Park is the nation's largest urban park and is filled with trails for hiking and biking; that's just one of tons of parks throughout Portland. No matter where you go, there is a green space nearby. The entire city is designed to be walker and biker-friendly, so it's a good spot for fitness enthusiasts or those who are exploring on foot.

Portland is the home to a quirky, proud population that loves to celebrate its city. The Portland Rose Festival is the largest event of the year; it essentially turns the entire waterfront into a carnival and packs in the delicious food and great live music that are Portland staples. The Waterfront Blues festival is another notable event that draws the city's music lovers every year. If you aren't convinced that Portland is worth a visit yet, consider the fact that it's the Food Cart Capitol of the World. If you want to experience the “City of Roses” for yourself on your next travel contract, give Nurses PRN a call to see what’s available!
