Are you a biker looking for some bike trails with great scenery? Then checkout the Kern River Parkway. It's a great way to see Bakersfield. The path runs from near Interstate 5 in the west to the Kern River Canyon in the east--about 30 miles long of scenic bike trails. Along the way you'll pass the Murray Family Farms where you can pick your own fruits and vegetables, the California Living Museum where you can view tons of native animals, or continue up the Kern River Canyon for a day of hiking.
Want to get a way for a special day off experience? Check out the nearby Rankin Ranch where you can spend the night at a historic cattle ranch that was founded in 1863 and is still home the same family. Activities include horseback riding, hiking and lots of stuff for kids to do. Learn more at http://www.rankinranch.com/.

If you're into country music then you can't beat Buck Owen's Crystal Palace for the best in live country music from major stars and lots more.
