"Keep Austin Weird" is the city slogan proudly boasted by Austin locals who take pride in their city's unique, quirky identity. If you want to spend your next travel nursing contract in a city with beautiful weather, loads of attractions including historical sites, museums, and some of America's best restaurants, and unique opportunities for outdoor recreation, Austin is your place.
Austin is widely known as the live music capital of the world, and it holds true to that title. Whether you're at a casual coffee shop or a lively nightclub, there will probably be a live band or musician present. Downtown Austin houses the highest concentration of live music venues along with restaurants, bars, theaters, art galleries, and shops. The best part is that downtown is relatively compact so you can easily walk from place to place while exploring. It's the perfect place to go with your nurse friends on a night off.
Austin is an ideal choice for a travel nurse that likes to get outdoors. Austin has beautiful weather, tons of parks, and a convenient location on the Colorado River. This makes for a very active population. Barton Springs Pool is a spring-fed swimming hole in Austin that's a popular destination for locals looking to cool off from the Texas sun. There are also tons of opportunities for walking, biking, canoeing, and kayaking throughout the city.
Austin is always up for a celebration; there's practically always an event going on that celebrates Austin and can help you get to know your new Southern home. South by Southwest is one of the biggest music festivals with bands and musicians taking over the entire city. Chili Fest is another popular music festival that takes place outdoors and raises money for local charities. To join in on the celebration for your next travel contract, give Nurses PRN a call to hear about what opportunities we have in Austin!
